Orimattila Second Day

Our second day in Orimattila was another full day.

It started with Ari taking to the barn in the morning.

This whole area, and even further beyond are the family fields they grow wheat, barley and some rape seed. They do all the work themselves.

Weiping's "I'm gonna drive a tractor face".

Off she goes.

Or would have, but she needed the tutorial first.

No running into anything!

We were excited and happy to drive the tractor.

Thank you Ari!

The reporter who came to put us in the local paper.

Orfer, Jukka's company. They use Kawasaki and Toshiba robots to help companies create automated processes.

In their machine shop they have their own lasers, this one is welding.

Check out the tiny forklift.

One of the robots was being programmed. We saw a demonstration on how they are teaching the computer to receive this one specific part from a bin, and later it will be programmed to pick out multiple parts.

Us with Jukka at Ofer.

Lunch was buffet at the local Chinese restaurant. Weiping was very happy.

This was a local candle shop.

Very cute, and hand made.

We then went to Tappola House. They use these rabbits as food.

The girls wanted to stuff the bunnies in their purses.

This facility is for the handicapped. They are usually adults and some here to live and work. Pekka came alone with us and Ludwig was our guide as well as the projects facilitator.

The village has cows and their own creamery. The villagers tend and milk the cows.

This cow liked me, and probably would have licked me if I had let it.

During the winter the residents weave. They sell the products twice a year at a local market.

They also keep chickens. The village is organic and tries to be self sufficient.

They also have the residents participate in art projects.

Sasha and her husband Ludwig.

For dinner we went to their summer cottage. Which was next to a lake.

The view from the dinner table.

This is where we spent the night. Telttahotelli, which is a tent hotel. The rooms are like tents, indoors.

They were very cute inside but had very thin walls.
