Asikkala First Day

Lunch with the Asikkala Rotarians at the Musta Kissa, the second time this trip to stay there.

From lunch we walked down the road to hear Kari explain the functions of the City of Lahti's Environmental Affairs. He explained how the city is responsible for creating clean energy and committed to reducing CO2 emissions.

Juha who took us around explained his field of limnology. He has studied the ecosystems of lakes, rivers and water. He was instrumental in creating a program of lake remediation in Lahti. He helped restore the balance of the natural ecosystem back to Lake Vesijarvi taking it from the most polluted lake to one of the best.

We were able to have some free time in the afternoon so us girls found the local greek restaurant for dinner.

It was packed! At least the food was better than the crowd.
